The S2 Graphics course follows a similar path as the S1 course to get pupils ready for the following year whilst still developing the many skills needed for the S3 course and National courses
The aims are:
• To develop pupils skills in graphic communication, including Manual drawing board work and the use of the correct equipment. Rendering using tone, shade etc.
• To develop pupils skills in graphic communication software packages such as Autodesk Inventor and the Serif Suite for DTP
• Continue to apply knowledge and understanding of graphic communication drawing standards.
There is a variety of tasks to develop skills and there are assignments throughout the year to practice all the Knowledge & Understanding and application skills they have learned.
The following gives an overview of the main task work:
S2 Graphics
2 Point Perspective Basics - Street View - House
Manual Rendering Street View (Pencil & Pastel)
Inventor CAD Commands - Line, Shape, Fillet, Chamfer, Trim, Array(Linear/Box), Dimension
Microwave/Camera/Rocket/Spinning Top 3D Commands -
Extrude (Add/Subtract), Revolve, Add Material/Colour, Decal 3D CAD Modelling - Render
COLOUR - Consistent and effective use of colour theory
DTP - Colour Theory, Thumbnails, Promotion (CD Cover - Magazine - Book)
ELEMENTS - Graphic, a backdrop, text including heading/title, footer and text, gutter, Import, cropping, text wrap, flow text along a path, bleed, reverse, transparency and drop shadow
